BHOPAL: Launching a scathing attack on chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for failing to curb crimes against women, Congress said he should feel ‘ashamed’ that MP was once again on the top in terms of rape cases in the country as per the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report of 2016 released on Thursday.
Congress said the chief minister along with his party is busy celebrating completion of 12 years in office.
Senior Congress leader and Chhindwara MP Kamal Nath tweeted, “Madhya Pradesh shamed again!” Referring to women and minor girls as “sisters and nieces of Mama” (as Chouhan calls himself the brother of all women in the state and maternal uncle of all girls), Nath said they were not vulnerable to attacks anywhere else as in Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s regime in MP. “Once again MP is on top in rape cases. This is the truth of Shivraj rule, which indulges in fake celebration”, Nath said.
Congress leader and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia in his tweet said “Ground reality of women’s security in MP is extremely shameful. 4,882 rape cases in 2016. Madhya Pradesh is once again on the top in cases of rape.”
